A. Please read the following instructions before you begin the application process:
- Ensure your organization falls within The Chatlos Foundation Guidelines.
- Review the Information for Applicants to understand The Chatlos Foundation Funding process.
- Only organizations based in the United States, and recognized as a non-profit by the IRS, may submit a proposal.
B. Funding Request Submittal:
Funding Requests can be submitted via US Mail or through the Chatlos Online Portal. Please choose one submittal method.
A complete Funding Request package will include the following:
- Grant Request Letter (not to exceed 3-4 pages)
- Simple Project Budget
- Completed Chatlos Foundation Application
Grant Request Letter should include:
- Introduction of Organization
- Mission Overview – General Purpose of Org
- General Purpose of Request
- Project Overview – Define the problem or need including relevant data and examples that highlight the significance of the problem or need.
- Proposed Solution – Insights into the strategy and approach that aims to address the problem or need
- Expected Outcomes – Explain the positive changes the project will bring
- Funding Request
- Total Project Budget – Overview of total project costs (Attach a simple project budget)
- Request Amount – Specify the exact amount needed

Online Portal Submittal
Funding Request data will be keyed in the Chatlos Foundation Application for Funding and the remaining documents – Grant Request Letter, Simple Project Budget – will be uploaded as Attachments.

Helpful Tips:
- As a new Blackbaud Portal user, you will need to “Create” an account. Please keep track of your password.
- Attachments – Ensure each uploaded file is less than 29mb in size.
- Attachments – Files may be in PDF, Word or Excel format.
- To receive System Messages, add noreply@yourcause.com to your Safe Senders list.
- Grantees – We encourage you to add all Applicants within your Organization that should have access to an Application and Subsequent Forms to enable sharing. Use the “Manage” button associated with an application to add additional applicants. Applicants will need to have a Blackbaud Portal account.
