Coalition for the Homeless

Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida is the largest direct provider of homeless services in Central Florida. Up to 500 people a day receive temporary shelter, nutritious meals and housing-focused help at our two emergency shelters. Through our drop-in services, about 100 additional people daily can find immediate non-shelter housing, get a hot shower and clean clothes, and enjoy a solid meal. Our mobile unit – the Care-A-Van — takes help and hope directly to families experiencing homelessness wherever they are in our community.  Last year, 4,677 people were served by the Coalition. We helped 1,639 people journey from homeless to housed, and we prevented homelessness for 1,052 people by helping them to stay in their homes.

We are grateful to The Chatlos Foundation for supporting our child-care and preschool center, which serves our youngest shelter guests – children six weeks old through age 5. The center is a safe, caring place to grow and learn during a family’s crisis of homelessness.
